I am a talented professional with extensive knowledge of Web Development, Computer Hardware/Software Installation, Troubleshooting and Support, Networking Administration and Technology and Music Education.

Currently, I am seeking an opportunity to apply my passion for technology and experience as an educator to work with a team of professionals while providing excellent technical support or technology managment.

To push personal and professional projects to the next level, I am learning more about Python, PHP, Django, JavaScript and CSS. Some of these projects are on my GitHub page.

Self-Employed (Part Time)

Mobile Computer Technician / Tutor

Sept. 2018 - Present

Provide excellent technical assistance to clients in the Grays Harbor Area.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide friendly computer hardware and software troubleshooting and repair.
  • Perform expert virus and malware removal services.
  • Computer and peripheral buying advice and setup.
  • Give competent computer / Technology tutoring one on one in a wide variety of subjects.

Lake Quinault School District

K-12 Music and Computer Teacher/Technology Coordinator

Sept. 2002 - Aug. 2018 (16 years)

Teach K-12 Music and Computer subjects at a small rural school as well as being the Technology Coordinator and providing Computer Networking and Desktop support.

Responsibilities:

  • Successfully teach a wide variety of Technology and Music classes to hundreds of students ranging from kindergartners to 12th Graders, staff members and community members.
  • Designed and maintain the school’s computer lab of 25 computers using the latest educational technologies to allow for improved learning.
  • As Technology Coordinator, I won a “Making a Difference” award from the District for planning and overseeing the purchase and deployment into the district of $250,000 of technology equipment purchased by community levy and performing installations of the equipment and training.
  • Worked as second tier tech support for hardware, software and networking problems for over 350 workstations VoIP phones and mobile devices within the district to maintain minimum downtime.
  • Performed all levels of hardware diagnosis and repair from system board level to installation of expansion cards and computer peripherals.
  • Setup and administered Windows Deployment Server to assist in ease of Windows Installation.

Alma College

Technology Consultant

June 2015 - June 2017 (2 years)

I am working remotely as part of a small team to develop, prototype, program and build low-cost data collection units that will be used to help connect teachers and schools.

The data collection units use Arduino and Raspberry Pi microcontrollers programmed in Processing, Python and PHP to collect data from Vernier Sensors and report the data to the Alma College Dow Digital Science Center. These units saved money for the college as they were half the cost of comparable data collection units.

Variations of the units have cameras and are solar powered.

Also taught week long summer camps on Robotics and Microcontrollers for middle school students.

Responsibilities:

  • Created three different versions of the data collection units including one that was based on the Arduino ecosystem, one based on the Raspberry Pi ecosystem and one that is solar powered.
  • Responsible for creating the designs, writing the programs, building the prototypes, testing the prototypes, interfacing with the people on site in Michigan and the person building the web interface.
  • Constantly researched new hardware and programming techniques to add value to the systems.

Soundchaser

Computer Builder/Customer Support/Manager of Production.

August 2001 - July 2002 (11 months)

Worked as a computer builder / support technician for a company that built and supported computers for high end digital audio sampling and recording customers, including Hans Zimmer, Danny Elfman, Mark Isham, Christopher Young, Trevor Rabin, Lucas Arts, EA Games and many others.

Was promoted to Manager of Production in December of 2001.

Responsibilities as Computer Builder/Customer Support:

  • Performing the initial pre-loading builds and imaging of basic OS.
  • Quality control after the additional hardware and software additions were completed.
  • Performing initial troubleshooting on computers that were returned.
  • Diagnosed issues that customers had over the phone on the company's tech support line.

Once I was promoted to Manager of Production, I performed these additional duties.

  • Purchasing of hardware and software needed to produce the computers.
  • Placed priority of builds and Scheduled order of builds.
  • Made sure computers followed the proper build process.
  • Made sure computers were shipped on time.
  • Notified sales department if a computer build would be late shipping.

I perform Computer Software/Hardware repair and technology tutoring to members of the community.

Some of the work I performed was:

  • Basic Software/Hardware troubleshooting.
  • Printer diagnosis/repair.
  • Computer maintenance including updating OS and software and malware/virus removal.
  • Home network design, installation and troubleshooting.

Grays Harbor Fire District #4

First Responder/Firefighter

June 2004 - Jun 2015 (11 years)

Served the Lake Quinault area as a Volunteer Fireman/First Responder.

Performed the following Duties:

  • Drove Medical and Fire Apparatus to and from scenes.
  • Performed First Aid on patients as needed.
  • Assisted EMT personal as needed with patient care.
  • Performed firefighting duties as needed.

Community Members

Violin Teacher

2003 - 2005 (2 years)

Taught community members and students after school how to play the violin.

Taught basics of music notation, posture, proper care of the instrument, fingering technique and performance technique.

After the first year, I taught a beginning class and an intermediate class.

Completed 3 out of 4 semesters of a hybrid Cisco Computer Networking Associate program while teaching full time. Would like to complete as the last semester was about WAN networking and it would be interesting personally and applicable to my career in the technology industry.
